This popular concept is a great way to appreciate nature in all its settings. We'll be able to discuss delicious seasonal vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers or shrubs that we see in yards, but please don't expect this class to collect your dinner! This class is to teach you what's even available (and possibly growing in your urban spaces), and we'll point out places where we would and WOULDN'T collect. Safety will be a large focus of this class in order to ensure students understand what potential dangers are in their particular area, but we will discover surprising, seasonal edibles from unexpected places. The perfect accompaniment to any other foraging class! TERRAIN: Sidewalks, alleys and postage stamp yards will provide us with a variety of unexpected plants, shrubs, and trees. PARKING & FACILITIES: Street parking. WHAT TO BRING: We always recommend dressing for the weather and being prepared to walk at least 1-2 miles. You should also bring your phone to take pictures with and a notebook. Wear sunscreen and a hat. We don't reschedule for rain, so be prepared if the weather looks wet. WHAT ELSE TO KNOW: Along with teaching you about plants, these walks are excellent to teach you how to create relationships for future urban foraging.
